Local Get Togethers

The conditions we support are rare, and many of you reading this may never have set foot in a room with someone with a similar lived experience as you. Local Get Togethers are a GAIN community led safe space for members, friends, families, carers and other supporters, to meet socially. Whether you’re swapping advice, venting to an all too understanding ear, or just setting the world to rights, Local Get Togethers provide that opportunity.

If you live in the North West of England the Lancashire and Cumbria group meets quarterly on a Saturday at 1.30pm in Catterall Village Hall , Garstang Road, Catterall, PR3 1XN.

Dates for 2025 are:

  • 8th March
  • 7th June
  • 6th September
  • 6th December

A group also meets in Leeds and York. Please check back or monitor our social media for future dates. They last met: 30th November 2024.

We would love to see these vital groups spread across the UK and Ireland and there are plans for more to come soon. If you would like to setup something in your area, please contact the office who will be able to help you on 01529 469910, or email office@gaincharity.org.uk

If you’re interested in attending a group but don’t live near a current Local Get Together, please consider filling in this anonymous form (unless you choose to enter an email address to help facilitate an event). This will help us identify areas of significant interest:

GAIN hosted Online Get Togethers

The GAIN team also attend and host monthly Online Get Together sessions. These are friendly and accessible meetings held over Zoom. Attendees can come together to have a chat, talk about their condition, have a moan, seek support, or ask questions.

We run two meetings every month – a GBS Get Together every third Thursday of the month, and a CIDP Get Together on the fourth Thursday, both at 2pm.
